This July 1939 announcement lists the latest additions to the U.S. Navy fleet then entering service or under construction — battleships, cruisers, destroyers, submarines, and seaplane tenders. Among those listed are the battleships USS Iowa and USS New Jersey, which would go on to become the most powerful surface combatants in the American fleet.
