Ordnance Pamphlet 831 (First Revision, July 1944) is the U.S. Navy’s complete technical manual for the Depth Charge Projector Mark 6 Mod 1 and Mod 2. This projector replaced the older “Y” gun type, projecting depth charges to port and starboard simultaneously to enlarge the pattern obtained by charges rolled from the stern.
The pamphlet covers the full description of the projector’s components — base, barrel, breech, cartridges, arbor, and depth charge — followed by detailed operating procedures for loading, firing, and safety precautions. The maintenance section includes step-by-step disassembly instructions for the breech mechanism, firing pin mechanism, and sear bracket mechanism.
