OP 1507 — Japanese Underwater Ordnance

Mines, Depth Charges & Torpedoes · 20 April 1945

Ordnance Pamphlet 1507 (OP 1507), published 20 April 1945, contains a summary of the more important items of Japanese underwater ordnance — mines, depth charges, and torpedoes. It was designed to aid in identifying the items, to give their tactical characteristics, and to outline the precautions to be taken. The pamphlet is illustrated throughout with detailed drawings and cross sections, and includes summary tables of mine and torpedo types with their dimensions, charge weights, and firing methods.

This publication was not intended to give instruction regarding the disposal of such ordnance — those operations remained the duty of specially trained personnel. This copy is made available through the kind cooperation of Bolling Smith of the Coast Defense Study Group.
